Governor Cuomo has announced that gyms in New York can finally reopen and we will do so on September 2nd.  We can’t wait to get back to doing what we love!

All appointment requests must be made by email to info@northendfitness.com.

As you might expect, there will be quite a number of changes at North End Fitness & Training.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.  As it always has been, the health and safety of our staff and clients is our primary concern.  While it’s not possible to turn the gym (or most other places you go) into a sterile environment, most of our changes reflect the necessity to “up our game” in light of the Pandemic. We will meet and exceed New York State guidelines.

Physical Changes

Cardio equipment

  • All cardio machines are now spaced 6 feet apart

  • Of our 10 cardio machines, 6 are where you remember them.  These 6 will be restricted to 20 minutes of warmup and/or cool down for personal training.

  • The spin bike has been moved downstairs and is available for unlimited use.

  • Two treadmills and 1 elliptical have been moved downstairs.  These 3 machines are also available for unlimited use.

Plexiglass

  • The 6 machines remaining by the televisions all have plexiglass “sneeze guards” in front of them.  Please be careful as you walk by.

  • Plexiglass has also been placed by the front desk.

Downstairs

  • Our downstairs kitchen area has been curtained off and is for the exclusive use of North End staff.

  • The “vault” downstairs has also been curtained off for use by staff on breaks.

  • The downstairs bathroom is reserved for staff only.

  • We have added a “Zoom studio” so that trainers can move seamlessly between in person and virtual training.

Nutrition

  • The office is restricted for staff use only.

  • Nutrition sessions will be available via Zoom, phone or email.

  • Scales have been placed outside the office. Please use sanitizing wipes.

  • Weigh-ins with the body composition scale will be available upon request.

Masks and Gloves

  • Trainers and clients are required to wear masks and gloves while training. Please bring your own masks.  Per New York State, bandanas, buffs, and gaiters are not acceptable face coverings in gyms. Gloves will be provided.

Air Quality

We have used MERV 13 filters in our HVAC systems for years and this has now become the standard under the New York guidelines..  These filters will be new when we open and will be changed monthly.  We have also installed a UV-C light system to our main HVAC system to provide further air purification.

Cleaning

Our facility has been cleaned during the shutdown and will be thoroughly cleaned again prior to reopening.  All equipment will be continuously cleaned with CDC approved, hospital grade disinfectant throughout the day. Please help us in this effort by cleaning cardio machines after using them. Bathrooms and floors will be cleaned regularly. Professional cleaning will continue weekly.  We’re adding NanoSeptic self-cleaning coatings to all door handles.

Hours and Training Schedule

We will maintain our previous hours subject to staff availability and client demand.  On weeknights, we will close upon completion of the last training session.  We will only schedule training in a way that minimizes staff exposure. This includes creating a buffer time in between clients to enable trainers to clean and set up for the next session. We apologize in advance if we are not able to give you an exact training slot or a specific trainer, but will do our best to accommodate your requests.

  • Zoom sessions will remain available to all members to workout from home. We will also continue to train clients outside upon request and at home by appointment.

  • When requesting appointment times, please be sure to specify if you are requesting for In Person training OR Zoom training, as well as your availability including alternative times.

  • Previously held continuous appointment slots will be unavailable for now. Please be sure to email us to secure your training appointments.

Reduced Density

No more than 2 clients will be training at the same time on our main floor. Trainers will be responsible for keeping clients 6 feet apart at all times, please follow instructions carefully during your session.

When scheduling permits, we will accommodate additional clients by utilizing our 2 floors to ensure maximum distance.  This may alter your workouts at times but we are confident that working out in either space will be equally effective.

Bootcamps

Bootcamps remain online for now but may soon resume in person.

Online training on Zoom and Outside Patio Training at NEFT/Backyards

We will continue offering personal training outside and via Zoom (or platform of your choice) upon request.  If you’re more comfortable working out outside or at home, we’ll be there with you. If you are in a high risk group, consider continuing with outdoor or online training to protect yourself.

Kids

All kids programming is suspended until further notice. Class packs will remain on hold and expiration dates will be extended.

Forever Fit

Forever Fit is suspended until further notice.

Memberships & Pricing

Unless you have been maintaining an active membership with our virtual or outdoor services, your membership was put on hold as of 3/17/2020 (or earlier if requested).  You may reactivate your membership until December 1, 2020.  At the end of 2020, all sessions that were in packages that were not reactivated will expire.

There is no way around the fact that the COVID-19 Pandemic has been a financial disaster.  Even prior to this event, our costs have doubled over the 10 years that we have been in business.  To continue operating, our staff must be compensated fairly, our landlord needs to collect rent, our multitude of vendors must be paid, and the business must be profitable.

We will keep prices stable as we assess where we stand, but anticipate that we will need to make adjustments in the near future. Our 12 hour late cancellation policy will need to be strictly enforced. We will be in touch to communicate any changes to your pricing. Thank you for your understanding.

Member responsibilities

  • Masks are mandatory during your visit to North End Fitness & Training, no exceptions. *

  • Wash or sanitize your hands when you arrive and after your training session.

  • Gloves will be provided when you arrive and must be worn during your training session.

* Please be aware that wearing a mask while exercising may cause breathing difficulties, especially for those with underlying cardiovascular or respiratory conditions. ** You may cancel your appointment up to 12 hours before your scheduled time with no penalty. If less than 12 hours notice is given, you may transfer an in person session to a virtual session at the same scheduled time at no charge, when available. Please email for scheduling appointments and changes.

Our thanks

None of us would be here if we didn’t love doing what we do.  So many of those who lost their lives due to COVID-19 had underlying health conditions.  We all owe it to each other to be as healthy as possible. Keeping yourself healthy with regular exercise and healthy lifestyle habits is the best way to keep your immune system strong. Cooperating with our safety guidelines is the best way to keep our community healthy and strong.  Thank you for giving us the opportunity to help you be the best you and keep NEW RO STRONG.

We can’t wait to see you!
